In December 2018, I treated Óscar (not his real name), a 28-year-old man who was distressed by a number of symptoms associated with finasteride, a drug he had been taking for 12 months for alopecia, as prescribed by his dermatologist. He had stopped treatment 10 months earlier, but symptoms that affected his quality of life persisted—decreased libido, depression and disassociation “between his brain and his genitals”… From December 2018 until now, I have treated about 50 young men from all over Spain who have been on finasteride for alopecia and whose symptoms persisted in the physical, sexual and psychological spheres.
